Sound Entertainment Events has provided live music at memorable celebrations for over five decades. Founded by Jon Greenberg, our ensemble brings the kind of experience you only get from playing legendary stages like Carnegie Hall and international jazz festivals. Since 1971, we have handled the music for over 2,000 weddings and countless high-profile events, blending professional elegance with the energy of a live performance!

The Derby Day Dixieland Jazz Band
The Derby Day Dixieland Jazz Band was born when Colonial Downs held its 2021 Virginia Derby Day. Jonny the bugler hired his traditional New Orleans music playing friends to join him at the racetrack. The band had fun going from floor to floor and playing for spectators in the grandstand and in their private suites. They also played for the VIPs in their tent plus children and veterans. It was a huge success, so we did it again in 2022. The band brought their show to Williamsburg Landing for Mardi Gras in 2022 and to Westminster Canterbury on Fat Tuesday for Mardi Gras in 2023, ’24 & ’25.
The goal of the Derby Day Dixieland Jazz Band has been to have fun recreating a New Orleans style of music from 100 years ago!
With classic Dixieland instruments and talented musicians, the band performs traditional jazz favorites that keep guests entertained and the event atmosphere vibrant.

Jon Greenberg’s Jazz Warriors
he Jazz Warriors began as an opening act for Paquito DeRivera, Ramsey Lewis and Four Play at CNU's 2008 Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Festival. Over the years, our Jazz Warriors performances have metamorphosed in to an educational showcase for local talent. We were a house band at Bistro 27 on Broad St plus Bogart's and Selba on Cary Street from 2011 through 2014. Our showcase consisted of original arrangements of jazz standards and featured many local artists. Dozens of instrumentalists and singers joined us on stage at those venues in order to perform publicly.
The Jazz Warriors drew from the Grammy nominated Central Virginia Jazz Orchestra in order to represent that big band in a small group setting. This combo performed each month at Bogart's jazz showcase as the house band, backing up singers and other featured artists from New York City plus VCU's music program. After eleven years of entertaining Richmond audiences and establishing our fan base, the Jazz Warriors have an array of music videos archived on YouTube's "VideoBayboo" channel.
The Jazz Warriors evolved as an ensemble to perform at Richmond Jazz Society’s Thursday night concert series at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts on April 21st, 2016 plus a Brandermill Regional Men’s Club fundraising event at the Chesterfield Career & Technical Center on May 22nd, 2016. Since then, The Jazz Warriors have rehearsed and recorded in preparation for participating in college workshops and jazz festivals, presenting a show entitled, “100 Years of Jazz” which is both educational and entertaining.
On Thursday, February 16th, 2017 the Jazz Warriors had an historic return engagement at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. Sponsored, in part, by the Richmond Jazz Society and by Altria, we presented our 100 years of jazz program 1917-2017. Each year, Jon Greenberg’s Jazz Warriors performs a new program at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts for the Richmond Jazz Society’s Wednesday night Jazz Cafe series.
